What we operate on
Our veterinarians perform both orthopedic surgery and soft-tissue surgery at Kyle Animal Hospital. Orthopedic cases include cruciate ligament tears, also called ACL or CCL injuries, fractures and broken bones, joint instability, luxating patellas, which is a slipping kneecap, chronic lameness or mobility issues, and degenerative joint disease.
Soft-tissue surgery covers procedures that do not involve bone or joints. Every case starts the same way, orthopedic or soft-tissue: a thorough exam and a review of diagnostics, including X-rays where they are needed, to confirm your pet is a good candidate before anything gets scheduled.

How we make anesthesia safe
We recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork to support safety before any procedure. During surgery your pet is continuously monitored with advanced equipment, and the anesthetic and pain control protocols are tailored to that specific pet rather than applied the same way to every patient on the schedule.
This all happens in the same suite for every case, dogs and cats, soft-tissue and orthopedic, so the same team and the same standards apply no matter what kind of surgery is on the calendar that day.

The recovery you go home with
You leave with detailed at-home care instructions, rehabilitation recommendations where they apply, and follow-up appointments already set rather than a vague suggestion to check back in sometime.
Most pets experience dramatic improvement with proper post-surgical care, and that is what the plan we send you home with is built around, not just getting through the day of the procedure itself.
